Community Development has just updated their map of projects that are currently under construction in the City of Tempe.  The map features the major projects located all around Tempe.  A map view on the right works dynamically with the location list on the left. Zoom and scroll with your mouse and click on either side for info.

Baer’s Den

The ongoing transformation of Apache Boulevard to a lively Tempe corridor continues with an exciting new infill development named “The District”  that includes 279 new apartments and street level commercial space.  As part of the project the long time Tempe business, Baer’s Den, has been relocated and rebuilt on the site.  The project anticipates opening August of 2013.

Mill Avenue District’s World Of Beer (MAD WOB) opened to long lines and big buzz on August 8, 2012 after months of a fantastic renovation and adaptive re-use of the historic Egyptian Revival Style Tempe National Bank building at 6th Street and Mill Avenue. WOB supports Tempe and Arizona’s growing independent, craft beer industry and Mill Avenue’s continuing tradition of creativity in business.

Making Biking & Walking Tempeasy

University Drive improvements
University Drive
(Priest to Ash) and Hardy Drive (University to Broadway) have received federal transportation grants to re-shape the streets to be better places to walk and bike including adding trees and medians, enhance bike lanes, creating public art opportunities and calming traffic.  Public meetings and neighborhood input is happening now, and design ideas are taking shape at:
